Zora Neale Hurston's Search

Walker finds many clues about Zora which she didn't know about and was surprised about the findings. Sometimes she would ask herself why things happened to Zora in many ways.When she first finds old people that happen to have known Zora,they tell her about when she first got to the town and all that she did for it. They also tell her about how intelligent she was and how she liked flowers. Dr. Benson who gives Walker the real diagnose of her death tells her that she died of  heart stroke which amazes Walker with the fact that Zora was fat. Walker was astonished to hear that Zora had health problems because of the way she ate. When they find Her grave stone she concludes that Zora was forgotten about and that they didn't care much for her. The way her grave is surrounded by tall grass and unattended makes Walker think she didn't have a proper burial. The search of Zora made Walker realize that her culture has learned how to cope with grief by having laughter and merry thoughts of the people who have died. As she searched for Zora and gained more information with every clue she found , her awareness grew too by taking in every piece of new information she didn't know.

Janie's Blues

Janie goes through very confusing and pitiful moments in her life while trying to figure out how to be happy and married. She is guided by her grandmother which gives her helpless advice. Her grandmother tells her that she has to get married with the man she chose for her.Even though Janie tells her that she doesn't love him Nanny insists that eventually the love will come,so Janie gets married. Nanny told her that she didn't want her to have the life she did of a slave but by marrying Logan she relived Nanny's life. Janie realized that this wasn't love or how marriage was supposed to be. She later found a man that she thought was the perfect one to make her dream of being happily married come true, but it he wasn't the one. As years passed all Janie could do in her new marriage was be quiet and work in their store or post office. Janie had many sad moments trying to reach her dream.

This upcoming year for Janie will bring her both questions ands answers. Even though she got married again she still has no clue of how to be a wife. She didn't learn much from Logan in her first marriage because he would spoil her most of the time. She has no idea what to do and what not to do. Janie thinks that she will have a better chance at love with her new husband but she doesn't know if he will ask more of her or treat her the right way. If he ends up treating her bad that will answer her question about getting married so fast and also making questions about why this would happen to her.

Journey of Self-Discovery

To go on a journey of self-discovery means to take a break, and alone identify who we are and recognize our abilities and weaknesses. Before we make the journey we make the decision that we need to figure out who we really are. This journey could also define what kind of personality we have. It will help us realize our abilities and help us know how we are going to apply them in our future. The really good part of making this journey is to discover our weaknesses and realize why we have them. We also have the opportunity to strengthen our weaknesses and also apply the to our every day life. To take a journey of self-discovery means to make a discovery of who we are and realize the ways we have to change in order to become someone better.

Atleast one person agrees :)

When people get married they expect their family to agree with their decision more than any other person. The person who they choose to get married with should be the one that treats them right and respects them and of course has a connection with and love. The person that is getting married might see all the good in their partner but their can be members of the family that don't want to see any of his attributes and will always find a downfall on things. This will make the family disagree in the decision of getting married and turn their back on the couple. Even though the family disagrees their is always that one person who actually takes the time to meet and share time with the partner and realize the good in him. At least that one person has the opportunity to meet the man or woman that will make your sister,brother,cousin,daughter, or son very happy. Having that one person agree with the decision is enough support to make the people start a new life and make a future together. If you're sure about sharing your life with that one person at the end it doesn't matter if most or only one person agrees with your marriage.

Birth to a new life

 Well, she was less than an hour old.

 Tom was God knows where.

 I woke up out of the ether with an utterly abandoned feeling.

 I asked the nurse right away if it was a boy or a girl.

 She told me it was a girl.

 I turned my head away and wept. 

‘All right,’ I said, ‘I’m glad it’s a girl.

 And I hope she’ll be a fool.

Money = Happiness?

Money does give people the happiness they desire and they can get it anytime they want because they have the wealth to do it. If the rich were to be sad they could easily buy something and make themselves happy right away and if it kept on occurring then the more things they would have. I think the people with money have less worries than people that struggle to put food in their homes day to day. The rich ones don't have to worry about what they're going to eat the next day or how they're going to get any food at all. If the rich people were ever to have a hole in their heart they could easily fill it by buying what is missing or buying something close to it. By being rich you don't have to worry about your dreams because you would be able to reach everyone of them with money. People say that money doesn't buy happiness but it does buy an amount that resembles it or is close to it because the rich person would be satisfied with that closeness to happiness. If they were ever to get to a point where they would be depressed emotionally they could easily pay a psychiatrist to treat them and they would be cured. The rich people are happier than poor people even though it would take more happy moments of the rich ones to make one true happy moment of the poor.

Outward Appearance

Outward appearances are deceptive because it's not always what they seem to portray.When i go to stores with my friends or family i see a lot of deceptive people. I have seen moments when there's girls who are very pretty and have the best clothes on ,laughing and enjoying themselves with friends, and it may seem that their lives are almost perfect but they're not. Then the boyfriends shows up and you see the faces change. Every smile they had on turns into a sad frown. I can tell by the way they look at the floor the whole time their talking with him. The intimidation they give them to where they flinch with every little body movement their boyfriends make. You can see now that their lives are not as perfect as they seem to portray. We personally are concerned with some outer appearance because it's the way we judge the people we decide to talk too. I know that before we talk to someone sometimes we base it on their looks. If that person is dressed weirdly we don't take interest in starting a conversation with them. On the other hand when their is a cute boy/girl we don't think twice about meeting them. I think what we value in America is substantial because we know how to appreciate the things we have. Others money to me does not matter because i don't seek people because of their wealth but because of the way they treat me. I wouldn't care if i was sitting next to the poorest person on earth i am not the one that will judge their lifestyle.

Me? or Mi Familia?

My families desires are important to me but my own desires are even more important if its about my education. If it would be about my personal desires i would prefer my families over my own because i know that what i would want would be for my self convenience. My family is my support and i want to satisfy and make them happy in all the decisions i make.My family's desires are a priority to me but i know that if i want to be somewhere in life i need to expand my knowledge and leave to another place or move somewhere else.I know when my own desires are important because they benefit my future.I know my parents don't want me to go to school outside of the state but if that's what i need to do in order to pursue my desires than i would do it.Even though my parents wouldn't agree on my decision they would understand me eventually. I know my parents have worked their whole life for me to go to school and get an education but they limit me to going to college here in the state and i want to learn more about whats out there.

My American Dream

My American Dream has always been to make someone of myself and have a successful career.My dream is to be an architect and at one point go to Mexico and make my career useful.Ive always wanted to make homes and shelters to homeless or troubled people over there.Where I'm from there's a lot of poverty but they survive day to day.

To my parents my education is the most important point of my life. My parents only had an elementary education but they have and still remind me that our lives are not to be wasted but to be appreciated. They want me to be able to have everything they couldn't have. Even though they work most of the time and don't really lecture me like other parents do to their kids, i know what i have to do.They've done so much and have worked so hard for me,so i plan to give them back everything i can.My parents have been my teachers of life and i appreciate everything they do for me. They inspired me to pursue my American Dream.

Intro

Hi :) my name is Vanessa but most of the people that know me call me vane you pronounce it in Spanish.I love math or anything that has to do with counting and numbers. I'm not that good at English but i try!i don't do any sports because I'm not that good at them.I like school so far, cant complain ,well i try not too. I'm quiet but don't worry if u talk to me ill reply:) i like to laugh or make people laugh and I like meeting new people.Oh and I'm glad i have eighth period English because we laugh a lot in there:)!!!!!
